Arkansas Democrats Respond to Graham-Cassidy Health Care Bill's Defeat
LITTLE ROCK - The Democratic Party of Arkansas today released a statement regarding the breaking news that the Republican push to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act has failed.
Statement from Party Chairman Michael John Gray:
"Today 320,000 Arkansans can breathe a sigh of relief. The Senate Republicans did not succeed in their despicable attempts to rip health insurance away from Arkansans. And that is thanks to people all across the country of all political affiliation speaking out, making calls, and letting their voices be heard. We'll obviously monitor further developments on health care, but for now, it seems as though 'Arkansas Works' will be able to stay.
"We cannot let Senator John Boozman, Senator Tom Cotton, or Governor Asa Hutchinson off the hook for their cowardly stance on this health care bill that would have hurt Arkansas so tremendously. Their politics-over-Arkansas approach to governing is inexcusable, and I hope Arkansas voters don't forget it in 2018."
